6 Years ago, I began my journey to self discovery on DeviantART.
Why do I say that? Because I believe that art is the truest form of self discovery. It teaches us what we perceive of beauty, what drives our passion, and what we stand for. DeviantART is more than just an art community, it is a community of discovery and expression.
I began on deviantART merely posting color editted pictures and MS Paint colored linearts. In six years I have posted my own hand sketches, poems, literature, I have shared my thoughts on everything from video games to politics and my view on photography. I couldn't have gotten to where I am on this site without the help of my writing partner and my wife,
ToAtoneArt She originally introduced me to the site, and it has been constant ever since then. I continue to discover myself thanks to deviantART, the things I like to see, the things I would rather not, and the things I want to show the public about myself. I strive to find that one thing that truly calls me to dA, and to be honest with myself? I have not found it yet. But I will continue to come, to be inspired, and continue posting to find what moves me, and what moves the people who like to see me coming to the site.
I like the sort of dreary feel of this picture taken from the area where I live.
One of the things I like best about being on dA is finding artists that help share a vision. So I've chosen this collab between myself, and my friend
Xuruki
Urbex is a very strong interest of mine, one I'd love to expound on. So I have a lot of respect and admiration for deviants who do it on a regular basis.
I love the variety of mediums deviants can use. I would have never thought things like this could be made simply of plastic melted beads.
DeviantART is a great outlet for professional artists as well as amateurs, and a great place for the latter to be discovered.
<da:thumb id="307189017"/> I love that artists are willing to barter their skills with others to bring characters to life. This is my OC Bruce Mondragon from the
TalesOfAtonement Book series as done by
GruviaPon formerly xmeirinx.
And another for Tales of Atonement. These two are my favorite people to commission.
I think it's great that dA also allows fanart on their website, and even stood up against SOPA to ensure it would always have a place here.
I could go on and on, featuring all of my favorite artists, but instead I will just name them. THese honorable mentions are even more of a reason as to why I think dA is great, and have enriched my own DeviantART Story as I strive to find the same place in this community that they have.
